Psychedelic Support: Micro and Macro
Psychedelics are attracting increased interest following decades of suppression. Clinical research and the recreational use of psychedelics in the US was prevalent in the 1960’s producing more than 1,000 clinical papers covering 40,000 patients and six international conferences on psychedelic drug therapy (Grinspoon and Bakalar, 1979). The War on Drugs stopped most legal research for many years.
Today’s interest, clinical research, and cultural expansion is a true renaissance for mind altering medicine. Psilocybin, MDMA, ketamine, ayahuasca, and DMT, have completed or are undergoing clinical trials for the treatment of various mental disorders, with promising results (Luoma et al., 2020).
Change in legal status is also underway as a number of states including Colorado’s Prop 133 have passed decriminalization ordinances of plant-based psychedelics such as magic mushrooms.
With increased interest in psychedelics, particularly for psychotherapeutic and spiritual purposes, the topic of psychedelic use in harm reduction settings, microdosing, and integration is becoming an essential component to utilize the benefits and increase the safety of psychedelics fully.

Psychedelics open doors, but the real work comes from integrating what psyche – and the universe - has revealed.
